David Eugene Hollingsworth

Funeral services for David "Pete" Hollingsworth age 80, of Mt. Vernon, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pepper Puryear officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery with Braden Hollingsworth, Lance Hollingsworth, J.C. Hollingsworth, Tracy Arnett, Carlos Flores, Jay Phillips, and Randy Conarroe serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be G.A. 'Buddy" Arnett and Zack Adams. Visitation will be Thursday, January 16, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Chapel.

Mr. Hollingsworth passed away on January 12, 2020 in Texarkana. He was born on August 10, 1939, the son of Roy Hillard and Dorothy Lucille Walker Hollingsworth. He married Patricia Ann Sowell on June 9, 1961 in Dallas, Texas and she survives.

Mr. Hollingsworth worked for Dallas Power and Light, TXUMCO. He served in the US Airforce and was a member of the Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church since 1972 when he moved to Mt. Vernon. He was an avid Ham Radio Operator and could talk all over the world with his radio equipment. His enjoyment was mowing and relaxing watching old western movies; but the greatest joy was the love of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann Hollingsworth of Mt. Vernon, three sons, John Hillard Hollingsworth of Mt. Vernon, Ronald Glen Hollingsworth and wife Regina of New Boston, Michael Wayne Hollingsworth and wife Angela Marie of Mt. Vernon. Grandchildren John Chapman Hollingsworth and wife Jordan, Lance Rogers Hollingsworth and wife Jamie, Marshall Walker Hollingsworth, Braden Michael Hollingsworth and wife Katie Mae, Michaela M. Hollingsworth, David Wayne Hollingsworth, Jace A.Hollingsworth, Nina Nittinger, Jena H. Liles and husband Kris. Great-grandchildren Miguel Nittinger Dominic Nittinger, Owen Martin Hollingsworth and Mason William Hollingsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jerry Hollingsworth.
