Dorothy Helene Winfield

Dorothy Helene Winfield, 88, of Mount Vernon, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior November 30, 2019.  She was born to the late Charles and Adele Tucker on June 17, 1931.   Mrs. Dorothy married the love of her life, Charles W. Winfield, July 11, 1954 in Bowie, Texas.  Mrs. Dorothy graduated from Austin College in 1953 with a B.A. in music and then later she graduated from East Texas State University with her Masters .  She was a member of Austin College Acapella Choir and KAPPA GAMMA CHI Sorority.   She was a beloved music teacher for 36 years, and had the passion of teaching others her love of music.  In 1992, Mrs. Dorothy was voted Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year; she also was inducted into the MVISD League of Honors.  She enjoyed singing, quilting, and cooking.

 Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband Charles Winfield; son, Allan Winfield and wife Diana of Irving, Texas; daughter Margaret Helene McMahen and husband Dyke of Vernon, Texas: Grandsons, Westley Moss and wife Diana of Reno, Nevada; David Winfield of Irving, Texas; Sean Jackson of Katy, Texas; and Scott Jackson and wife Lindsey of San Antonio, Texas: Brothers, Chuck Tucker of La Marque, Texas; and Temple Tucker and wife Nita of Cypress, Texas.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Dorothy Helene Winfield is scheduled for Thursday December 5, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at The First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon.  The family will receive friends for a time of remembrance in the First United Methodist Life Center following the memorial service.
