AJ Kirbo

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our father and husband.  A.J. Kirbo, passed away on March 2, 2023, at the age of 88. He was always there when we needed him and would help anyone in need. He loved cars from an early age and was Service Manager at several local Ford dealerships. He was so loyal to the Ford brand that he personally selected a Model-A Ford engraving for his headstone.

A.J., known as just "Kirbo" to his many friends and customers in Daingerfield and Hughes Springs, was a well-loved member of the community and a member of South Union Missionary Baptist  Church. He also worked as a foreman at the T & N mobile equipment shop for a short time.

A.J. Kirbo was born in Mount Vernon, Texas on August 17, 1934 and lived in Dallas, Daingerfield, and most recently Naples, Texas. He was pre­ceded in death by his parents, Homer Lee Kirbo and Mattie Mae Ward Kirbo and sister, Betty Kirbo Carter. He is survived by Virginia Stone Kirbo, his wife of 69 years, daughters and sons-in-law; Karen Kirbo Collins and Larry, and Bobbie Kirbo Clark and Frank. He has one grand-daughter, Alicia Collins Medina and her husband, Terry; two sister-in-laws, Martha Stone Chitsey and Mary Ida Stone.

Receiving family and friends at Sam B Harvey Funeral Home on March 6 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Stone, Lloyd Jack Stone, Terry Medina, Terry Lee, Philip Chapman, and Mark Crossland. Honorary pallbearers will be John T. Stone Jr., Jason Chitsey, and Jeffery Chitsey. Interment will be at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.

A very special thanks is given to The Springs, Caraday of Mount Vernon, and Heart to Heart Hospice for the care he received the past few months. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to South Union Missionary Baptist Church in Daingerfield, Texas.
