Bill Biggerstaff, age 92, of Pierce, Texas, passed away May 9, 2025. He was born May 6, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Texas, to the late Steve and Winnie Vick Biggerstaff.
He moved to Pierce in 1951 where he was a lifelong cattle man on the Pierce Ranch Cattle Dept. He married his beloved wife, Foy Jean Tinsley in 1952. He was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Bill was active in all things that involved quarter horses and supporter of all youth rodeo activities. He was a founding member the Wharton County Quarter Horse Breeders Association, founding member of the Wharton County Sheriff’s Posse, served on the board of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Quarter Horse Division, member of Rockin W Youth Rodeo Association and Matagorda County Youth Rodeo, Piece 4-H Club leader, and was a pickup man for many rodeos.
In 1986, he was recognized as the Wharton County 100 Club Citizen of the Year.
Bill was a quiet, respectful, and proud man. Any task he started, he finished to the best of his ability. When asked to help with any project, his answer would always be, “Yes, of course I will.”.
He was a good friend, a good father, and a loving husband to his wife, Jean.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Jean Biggerstaff of Pierce, TX; son, Mark Biggerstaff of Pierce, TX; daughter-in-law, Jo Etta Biggerstaff of El Campo, TX; grandson, Blake Biggerstaff of El Campo, Tx; sister, Sue Cooper of Talco, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Winnie (Vick) Biggerstaff; a son, Billy Jack Biggerstaff and an infant son, Michael Biggerstaff
A Graveside Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pepper Puryear officiating at the Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
