Billy Gene Davison was born in Weaver, Texas, on June 6, 1933, to William DeCatur (W.D.) and America (Armstrong) Davison. Billy was a member of Weaver Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge #691 in Mount Vernon. He joined the Army and served in the Korean War.
Billy married Nancy Frue Arthur on May 21, 1954, the day she graduated from high school, and worked the cotton fields the next day. They had 6 kids together. Billy was a dairy farmer most of his life alongside his wife and son, Tarry. He was a man that poured his heart and soul into everything he did. He spent countless hours in the hay fields and milk barn doing what he could to provide for his family. After the dairy business slowed down, he took on a new trade of driving a dozer for James Gossip working alongside his good friend Brad Diener. When he wasn’t driving a dozer for them, he was driving a Dozer for Brooksey Crow. He always looked forward to these days working alongside his little partner Brady. Billy was known in the business for this dozer work. He took so much pride in every pool he dug. To this day he can pass by a property and say, there is a pool back there that I dug or I pushed and cleared all that timber. Billy’s love for hard work and his family was evident in every moment.
Billy’s faith was the center of everything he did; he was a deacon of Weaver Baptist Church for 20 plus years. He instilled in all of us the importance of the Lord, no matter how busy life got he never missed a Sunday service. He was always ready to share his love for the Lord with anyone that would listen. His life was a living testament to his faith. Every day without fail, Billy could be found reading his Bible. He was so proud to say that 3 weeks ago, he had completely read the Bible from front to back. His steady example and devotion to the Lord will leave a lasting legacy, that will continue to inspire us all. And in his own words “Glad you got to see me.”
He is survived by his children, Kay and Tim Martin, Randy and Dawn Davison, Tarry Davison, Garry and Mistie Davison, Chebna and Harold McClure; grandchildren, Matthew Morris, Craig and Jamie Morris, Kiesten Morris, Chasadi Davison, Tyler and McKenzie Davison, Bianca Davison, Branda and Josh Redar, Derek McClure, Brooke McClure, Jordan Alexander, and Blake McClure; great-grandchildren, Trajan Morris, Vivian Morris, Harvey Morris, Brendyl Davison, Ryleigh Redar, Bailey Redar, Ethan Rees, Kelton McClure, Kyson Alexander, Braylon McClure, Grayson McClure, Dylan McClure, and two to be born in November, Baby Boy Davison and Brixton Alexander.
