Bob Burkhead

Robert G. Burkhead, age 89, of Mount Vernon, Texas, went to be with his Heavenly Father, on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born on August 2, 1935, in De Kalb, Texas, to David W. and Martha (Tucker) Burkhead. He married Judith Swartz on October 20, 1995, in Titus County, Texas.

He loved spending time at the Senior Citizen Center – the Hub and visiting with friends. Bob proudly won the Hog Dog World Championship contest. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David W. and Martha Burkhead; and his sister, Linda Roberts.

Bob is survived by the love of his life of 29 years, Judy Burkhead; children, Debbie Hallmark, Cathy (Mike) Clinksdale, Jeff (Heather) Burkhead, Brad (Sanda) Kilgas; Greg (Jennifer) Kilgas, Bill Kilgas, and Ronda Cox; special grandchildren, Kandi Newman, Andrew Cox, Alex Cox, and Brandon Hampton. He had 16 grandchildren and  20 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
