Clara Jane Widemon

Clara Jane Widemon, age 88, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home and the Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Larry Black officiating. Pallbearers will be Aaron Goodwin, Chad Goodwin, Scotty Goodwin, James Hall, Charlie Hall and Glenn Runyon.  Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Olds and Justin Smith. Interment will be at Roberts Cemetery in DeKalb, Texas.

Clara was born on December 14, 1934, to John and Oleta (Caswell) Ferguson in Loraine, Texas. She married Johnie Lee Widemon, Sr., on February 3, 1950, and they were married for 53 years before his passing. Clara was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mount Pleasant.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Ferguson; mother, Oleta Duross; husband; Johnie Widemon, Sr.; sons, Johnie Lee Widemon, Jr., Calvin (Jackie) Widemon, Anthony Widemon; sisters, Edith Hejna, Mrytle (Tinsey) Ferguson, Linda Jacobs, Glenda Stubblefield and special friend, Robert Robinson.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, Leta and Charlie Hall, Patricia and Robert Slone, Betty Moss and Waylin Berry, and Linda Olds and Glenn Runyon; son, Dennis and Christy Long-Widemon; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Taylor and special friend, Carol Griffin. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
