Danny Charles Bynum

Danny Charles Bynum, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, at the age of 80.

Danny was born on February 21, 1944, in Ajo, Arizona, to Dan and Frances (Barker) Bynum. He married Mary Jane Hughes.

Danny was dedicated and hardworking and he spent much of his career as an Operations Supervisor for Hunt Oil Co. His commitment to his work was a reflection of his strong work ethic and integrity.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Danny had a deep love for sports. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and found great joy in watching the Dallas Cowboys play. His passion for both teams was a defining part of his personality. Danny also played on a local bowling league team from Mt. Pleasant, where his competitive spirit and camaraderie with teammates shone brightly. One of Danny’s greatest passions, however, was his yard. He took immense pride in keeping his lawn meticulously manicured, finding peace and satisfaction in the work it took to create a beautiful outdoor space.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Hughes Bynum; parents, Dan and Frances Bynum; and a brother, Kenny Bynum.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, daughter, Holly and Joe Parson; son, Joey and Denise Bynum; daughter, Misty and George O’Neal, and son, Dustan Bynum. He had 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; one sister, Dixie Spruill; mother-in-law, Jo Ann Huges; and niece, nephews, and extended family. He is remembered fondly by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the cemetery prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Joe Parson, Richard Hughes, Jason Hughes, Colton Hughes, Jorge Guiterrez, and Ryan James.
