David Dwaine Cates, age 61, of Mt. Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Tyler, Texas.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel. Randy Sinclair, George Joyner, and Terry Jaggers will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael Cates, Heath Hicks, William Johnson, Terry Jaggers, Chris Deloach, Mike Wallace and Scotty Kell. Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Donaldson, Steve Hill, Mike Dickson, Steve Dixon, Billy Marrs, Brex Marrs and George Joyner.
David was born on December 4, 1960 in Dallas, Texas to Gerald and Linda (Maples) Cates. He was married to Peggy Lavender Cates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Linda Cates.
David is survived by his spouse of three years, Peggy Cates of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; son and his wife, Michael and Michelle Cates of Hot Springs, Arkansas; daughter and her fiancée, Haley Marrs and Heath Hicks of Omaha, Texas. Grandchildren, Brex Marrs of Mt. Vernon, Texas, Kayla Sotelo of Hot Springs, Arkansas, William Johnson and fiancé, Bree Stephens of Sugar Hill, Texas, Dawson Hicks of Omaha, Texas, and Hallie Hicks of Omaha, Texas. Great grandchildren, Emry Sotelo of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Joseph Sotelo of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Sister, Rebecca Long of Mt. Vernon, Texas. Numerous cousins, friends and extended family.
