Donnie Surratt Obituary

Donnie Ray Surratt, 73 of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. 

Visitation will be Saturday September 10, 2022, at Sam B. Harvey chapel from 4-6 p.m.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday September 11, 2022 at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon Texas with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating.  Interment will follow in Concord cemetery in Omaha, TX.

Donnie was born August 16, 1949 to Orvel Lee and Louise “Clayton” Surratt.  They have preceded him in death as well as his loving brother Robbie Surratt, and cherished sister and brother-in-law Connie and Willard Johnson.

Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Surratt.  They were married in 1972 and just recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  Together they were blessed with 3 children, Andrea, Monica and Clint as well as seven beloved grandchildren.  Donnie was a bright guiding light in his family’s life.  Watching & supporting his children and grandchildren was one of his greatest joys & they were so blessed to have him in the stands & on the sidelines over the years.

Donnie was a Mount Vernon High School Ag. Teacher, MV State Champion Softball Coach, Franklin County Commissioner, member of First Baptist Church Mount Vernon and leader in the Mount Vernon community.  He loved supporting all of those Mount Vernon Tigers, students and especially his MV softball girls.  The tremendous impact he had on his family, friends, students, players & community is a tribute to a life well lived.

He is survived by his wife Vickie Surratt of Mount Vernon, Texas, daughters Andrea Reynolds of Mount Vernon, Texas, and Monica Treadway and husband Ty of Frisco, Texas, a son Clint Surratt and wife Melissa of Celina, Texas, grandchildren Matt Reynolds, Zach Reynolds, Samantha Treadway, Tyler Reynolds, Ryder Treadway, Ryann Surratt, Cody Surratt, Aunt Sue Clayton, and sister-in-law Betsie Surratt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

Donnie’s Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers are Donnie’s MV coffee shop buddies whom he cherished daily morning coffee talks with for nearly 35 years.
