Dottie Lou Garretson

Dottie Garretson, age 70, of Mt. Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Tyler, Texas.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. Tommy Milam will be officiating.

Dottie was born on June 22, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas to Louise “Horton” and Billy Stacks.  She married Chester Wayne Garretson on July 12, 1969 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  She was an administrative assistant at Carlton Manufacturing in Mt. Vernon, Texas.

Dottie was preceded in death by her father, Billy Stacks and her husband, Chester Garretson; brothers, Rodney Stacks, Ricky Stacks, Billy Dale Stacks; sisters, Betty Charlton and Belinda Ann Hulse.

She is survived by her son, Stephen (Jennifer) Garretson of Decatur, TX; daughter, Melissa (Peter) Vainauskas of Fresno, CA; 5 grandchildren, Jordyn Vainauskas, Alex Vainauskas, Brendan Garretson, Ethan Garretson, and Ryan Garretson; mother, Louise Stacks of Mt. Pleasant, TX; brother, Gary Stacks of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Bobby Stacks of Dallas, TX; sisters-in-law, Wanda Morrison and husband Mike of Mt. Vernon, TX, Cheryl Stacks of Tyler, TX; brother-in-law, Mike Hulse of Frisco, TX.
