Dr. Roger E. Bawdon, Ph.D., passed away peacefully at his home in Saltillo, Texas, on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on September 6, 1939, and lived a life marked by professional excellence and personal passions.
Dr. Bawdon was a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas. Over the course of his distinguished medical career, he authored more than 85 published papers, books, and abstracts, contributing significantly to his field. He also served as a guest researcher at the National Institutes of Health, furthering advancement in medical science.
Beyond his professional achievements, Roger found great joy in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, he cherished time spent with friends and family pursuing these activities. Some of his most treasured moments were those shared with his grandsons while fishing and hunting across the country.
Roger was also a passionate collector of muscle antique cars. At one point, his collection included over 30 vehicles, with Studebakers holding a special place in his heart. He took pride in working on them in his shop and sharing his enthusiasm for classic automobiles.
Dr. Bawdon’s legacy is one of dedication to both his profession and the people he loved. His contributions to medicine and the memories he created with those closest to him will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing. Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 64 years, Marlys; his son, Devin and wife Rosy; grandsons, Austin and wife Tanya, Logan and wife Megan; great grandchildren, Reagan Bawdon and Raylan Bawdon; cousin, Wanda Scott.
A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church - Old Saltillo with Rev. Dan Hoke officiating.
