Edna Earl (Davis) Harrod

Edna Earl (Davis) Harrod, age 87, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Edna was born August 6,1938, in Purley, Texas, to Coy R. and Maude Seple (Corley) Davis. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956. She then pursued further education at Draughon Business College in Dallas, Texas, where she met the love of her life, Gene Davis Harrod. They married on August 16, 1957, in Mount Vernon, Texas.

After raising two daughters in Euless, Texas, Edna and Gene moved back to Mount Vernon to be closer to family. Edna worked at Shelton’s Propane until she retired so that she and Gene could travel. Edna loved the Lord and was a long-time member of Purley Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene D. Harrod; her parents, Coy and Seple Davis; brothers, Robbie G. Davis, Billy M. Davis, and a son-in-law, Gary Burnaman.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Genea Burnaman and Ginger (Gary) Lyon; grandchildren, Ashley (DJ) Jester, Seth (Lauren) Burnaman, Jared (Grace) Lyon, Jeremy (Kirsten) Lyon; seven great grandchildren; sister, Linda (Jack) Williams; sisters-in-law, Chloeanne Davis and Dortha Davis; nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

 Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Purley Baptist Church. Visitation will be 30 minutes before service time. Pallbearers will be D.J. Jester, Seth Burnaman, Jared Lyon, Gary Lyon, Jack Williams, and Mike Davis. Rev. Pablo Guzman will be officiating.
