Elaine Harmon

Betty Elaine Harmon, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at the age of 82.

Elaine was born on September 24, 1942, in Saltillo, Texas, to A.O. “Sonny” and Vicey (Richey) Hankins.  Elaine loved gardening and cooking. She took pride in caring for her family.

Elaine was preceded in death by her son, Russell Wade Turner; her parents, Sonny and Vicey Hankins; twin brother, Dwain Hankins; and her sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Charles Davis.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Treva and Terry Lancaster; son, Dr. Jeff and Angie Turner; her special friend, John McClung; grandchildren, Audrey Whiteley, Shanna Whiteley, Jessica and Jake Guthrie, Brandon and Lauren Turner, Ashley and Robert McNeal, Zachary and Morgan Lancaster. Great grandchildren, Gracie Proctor, Averie Cornell, Bradley Guthrie, Hagan Guthrie, Jasper Lancaster, Weldon McNeal, Declan McNeil, Brevan McNeal, and Maren McNeal; And one sister, Irma Parlington.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sam B. Harvey Chapel with visitation one hour prior to service at 1:00 p.m. Pepper Puryear will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Rodney Newsom, Eric Newsom, Cody Newsom, Jake Guthrie, Chris Mars, and Zachary Lancaster.
