Frances Joy Rutledge

Frances Joy Rutledge, age 91, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away, Sunday evening, May 14, 2023, at her residence. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Vernon City Cemetery with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.

Joy was born to Charlie and Alta V. Lovelace Jones on December 3, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Texas.

Joy married Max A. Rutledge on December 6, 1947.

She is survived by her sons, Randy (Cheryl) Rutledge and Jeffery Rutledge; daughter, Saundra (Charles) Dunn; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years, Max Rutledge; brother, Charles Jones; sister, Marguerite Lipp.

Joy worked at MVISD as a librarian and secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church, The Order of the Eastern Star, and the quilting guild.
