George Albert “Buddy” Arnett, 87 years old, went to be with the Lord on March 10, 2025, in Mount Vernon, Texas.
Buddy was born on August 28, 1937, to Albert Lee and Francis (Wheat) Arnett. He graduated from Trinidad High School and then joined the United States Navy. Buddy was a service member for 4 years. He married the love of his life, LaVerne York, on July 4, 1957. He was a member of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diana Kay Arnett; and his sister, Margaret Arnett.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 67 years, LaVerne Arnett of Mount Vernon, TX; sons, Mark and Lisa Arnett of Slaughter, LA, Tracy and Cindy Arnett of Mount Vernon, TX, Cody and Melissa Arnett of Mount Vernon, TX; 12 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Buddy will be laid to rest at Chinquapin Cemetery in Walton, Texas, Van Zandt County, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with a Graveside service. Pepper Puryear will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Justin Arnett, Hunter Arnett, Brandon Arnett, Brian Arnett, Reese Arnett, Reilly Arnett, and Austin Arnett.
