Howard Stenbak Obituary

Howard Richard Stenbak, age 68, of Mt. Vernon, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Howard was born July 23, 1952 to Oliver Clarence and Evelyn Dorthea (Webb) Stenbak in Powers Lake, ND.

He grew up in White Earth, ND. He proudly served his country for 10 ½ years in the U.S. Army.  He worked several jobs in management: retail, the food industry, Head Start, Huron College and in serving people.  Howard never met a stranger and always left a lasting impression.

One of Howards most treasured memories was when he was preaching in Webster, SD.  He often went early and stayed late to fellowship with the locals.  Howard’s greatest mission in life was to love people, help them out and lead them to Jesus.

Although he will be missed, we are grateful for the times, memories and the legacy he has left behind.

He is survived by his wife, Elva (Griffith) of Mt. Vernon, TX; sons, Jeremy Stenbak of New Haven, CT, Anthony Stenbak of Chamberlain, SD, Cole Stenbak of Mt. Vernon, TX; daughters, Sarah (James) Stuart of Mt. Vernon, TX, Christina (Andy) Kealer of Llano, TX; and 8 grandchildren.

Grateful for sharing his life is his sister, Marsha (LeRoy) Schroeder of White Earth, ND; brothers, Oliver (Judy) Stenbak of Gillette, WY, Melvin Stenbak and Steven (JoAnn) both of Florence, CO, Norman (Franny) Stenbak of Stanley, ND.

In-laws, John Griffith of Huron, SD, Joe (Kirsten) of Alchester, SD, Linda (Dr. Robert) Millican of Plover, WI; Howard has many cousins, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Frank and Clareen Griffith; James and Sherry Griffith.
