Jackie Nell (Sims) Allen, age 76, of Winnsboro, Texas passed away on April 1, 2023 in Tyler, Texas

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home. The funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas at 11:00 am with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating. Pallbearers will be Clay Herrmann, Tommy Earl Burton, Danny Sims, Stuart Collins and Landon Bell.
Interment will be at Providence Cemetery.

Jackie was born October 23,1946 in Mt. Vernon, Texas to Jack and Mary Nell Sims. After graduating from Mount Vernon High School, she attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she received a Master’s of Arts Degree. As an educator she taught in several school districts across the country. Jackie retired after teaching kindergarten for 29 years at Mount Vernon. Jackie loved her family, her friends, her community, and church. She enjoyed sponsoring a little league baseball team for her son and his friends. She also loved painting, playing the piano, gardening, and hosting family reunions. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and faith in Jesus. Jackie will be deeply missed by many friends and family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Barry Allen and her parents, Jack and Mary Nell Sims.

Jackie is survived by her son, Clay Herrmann; sister, Pam Collins and husband Stuart; niece, Maggie Markwell and husband Sean and great nephew, Clark; niece, Mauri Rhodes and husband Evan; stepsons, Brady Allen and Casey Allen; one sister-in-law, Monique Keith and husband Martin.
