James Michael "Mike" Cruitt, age 61, of Winfield, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on July 6, 2026. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, friend, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Mike was born on August 27, 1964, in Xenia, Ohio to Sharon Lee Mullins and Kenneth Leroy Cruitt. At age 17, he moved to Texas temporarily with his dad for work, where he met Debbie Peacock at Mount Vernon High School. He joined the Army at age 18, where he became a paratrooper during the US invasion of Grenada. Afterwards, he worked as a mechanic in Xenia, Ohio. In 1993, he moved to Mount Vernon, Texas, where he married Debbie Peacock and worked as a carpenter.
Mike is survived hy his wife, Debbie Cruitt; daughters, Sarah Cruitt, Shannon Earles and husband, Dale, Ashley Standifer and husband, Randy; son, Eric Romero and wife, Tori; adopted son, Fernando Reyna and wife, Maria; grandchildren, Kelly, JR, Ryan, Ethan, Kami, Opie, Natalie, Kendal, Debon, Lexi, Sapphira, and Sophia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Sharon Cruitt.
A Celebration of Mike's Life will be held at the Oasis Fellowship at 113 FM 115, Mount Vernon, Texas, on Friday, July 10, 2026. Family visitation will begin at 2 pm with the service immediately following at 3 p.m.
