Jane Rich

Avis Jane Rich, age 85, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and the funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Chip Horton officiating.  Pallbearers will be Trevor Goode, Jacob Goode, Kaden Garrett, Seth Crosby, Scott Dyer and Ryland Ruffner. 

Jane was born on May 22, 1937, in Anson, Texas, to J.W. and Carline (Farrar) Mayfield. Jane was raised by her grandmother, “Bobo” Sallie Farrar. She married Luther “Buddy” James Rich on February 28, 1963. Jane was a member of the Church of Christ church in Mount Vernon. She was an avid reader especially of the Dallas Morning News. Jane loved driving her tractor and spending time at the lake while listening to all types of music. She could play the organ exceptionally well by ear.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Rich; parents, J.W. and Carline Mayfield, and one sister, Bobbie Freeman.

Survivors include her daughters, Mindy Goode and Tracy Garrett; grandchildren, Trevor Goode and wife, Lindsay, Jacob Goode, Kaden Garrett, and Seth Crosby; great grandson, Linden Goode; and close family friend, Ryland Ruffner.
