Janice Helen (Clatworthy) Andrews

Janice Helen Andrews, age 89, of Mount Vernon, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Sulphur Springs.

Janice was born on June 26, 1936, in Haddon Heights, New Jersey, to Buell E. Clatworthy and Ida Beatrice (Miller) Clatworthy. On January 18, 1957, she married the love of her life, Joe D. Andrews. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage and a lifetime of devotion that began in their teenage years.

Janice earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Purdue University and carried her love of art, learning, and service throughout her life. She was a dedicated and active member of her community, serving for many years as President of the Franklin County Arts Alliance. She was also deeply involved with the Old Jail Art Museum, the Gallery on Main, the Franklin County Historical Association, First United Methodist Church, and the church’s Congregational Care Team. She ran several successful small businesses centered around art and framing. She was awarded honors by Soroptimist International and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation. Her leadership, generosity, and compassionate spirit touched countless lives throughout the community she loved so dearly.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Joe D. Andrews, and by her parents, Buell E. and Ida Beatrice Clatworthy.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Andrews and wife Ronda, Jana Andrews and husband Leo Dalton II, Julie Grant and husband Troy, and Judith Sartin and husband Trey; grandchildren, Erica Valadez, Kristin Croom, Rachel Buchanan, Ashley Biller, Jason Robb, Rachel Quitevis, Leo Dalton III, Jessica Estes, James Bell, Jessica Johnson, and Lauren Sartin; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Zoe Mather and Mary Lou Stuffer; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 26,2026, in the Community Room at First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon.

Services are entrusted to Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home, where online condolences may also be shared.
