Jeanette O'Neal

Jeanette O’Neal, beloved aunt, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at Caraday of Mount Vernon.                                                                                                     

Born on November 25, 1948, in Mount Vernon, TX, Jeanette grew up in her hometown and spent her life devoted to her family and community in Franklin County. She had a gift for making everyone feel special—whether through her home-cooked meals, her thoughtful advice, her artistic creations and piano playing, or her contagious laughter.

Jeanette graduated from MVHS in 1967, then ETSU and UT at Tyler with bookkeeping and accounting degrees.  She used her education to work for Teague Motors for 10 years, serve Franklin County as the County Treasurer for 20 years, and had her own accounting business the following years. She was a member of  Providence Church and Cemetery Board of Directors, Providence Historical Committee, and Franklin County Arts Alliance. 

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles E. and Lynda Sue O’Neal. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charlie T. and Mary Gay Kirbo O’Neal.

Jeanette’s legacy of faith and trust in Jesus has been passed along to her nieces Annetta, Susan, and Jennifer, her nephew Jamie; great nephews Jared and Mitchell; great nieces Kerry, Katharine, Jillian, and Latisha; and her great-great nephews and nieces Dillon, Dacey, Taylor, Rylee, Madilyn, Lynon, Everett, and West.  

A celebration of her beautiful life will be held at Providence Church on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with the visitation at 10 AM, service at 11 AM. Jonathan Poe will be officiating; music led by Kert Prater and Dillon Barrett. Pallbearers: Kelly Hamilton, Jimmy Rogers, Clint Barrett, Jared Hamilton, Mitchell O’Neal, Dillon Barrett.
