John Ray Brock, age 72 of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at his residence.
John was born to Charles Ray and Eldred Princess Boyd Brock on May 22,1953, in Dallas, Texas.
He was a beloved Superintendent of the Cypress Creek Golf Course. John's days were spent surrounded by the things he loved most — the peaceful visits from deer near his home, and the laughter of children as he shared his favorite jokes. Whether he was out on the golf course, casting a line while fishing, or cheering from the dugout, John's joy was unmistakable. He especially loved coaching Little League, proudly guiding the team his nephew played on and instilling in young players not just a love for baseball, but lessons in kindness, teamwork, and resilience. A man with a kind soul and a smile that could light up a room, John touched countless lives with his warmth and good humor.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Billy Brock.
He is survived by his sisters; Pam Brock Sullivent, Norma and Roy Thomas; nephew, Brandon Brock; great niece and great nephew, Kaydence and Jaxton; step children; Charles Duncan, Lisa McKenzie, grandchildren; Shavelle Wallace, Joelle Stapleton, Jason Duncan, Tyler Duncan, ex-wife and friend, Sandra Brock and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
There will be a memorial service to honor John’s life at a later date.
Services entrusted to Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.
