John McCarley Obituary

John Rea McCarley, age 69, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Paris, Texas.

John was born on March 3, 1956, in Baton Rouge, Louisana, to Gordon and Gladys (Rea) McCarley.

He married Margaret Deville.

A man of great warmth and character, John had a true love for life. He found joy in the rodeo and music, often blending the two with his infectious enthusiasm. John’s greatest passion, however, was his family. A devoted family man, he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, and his home was always filled with love, laughter, and the aromas of his delicious cooking. Whether hosting friends or sharing a quiet meal with family, John had an incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His friends quickly became like family, and he had a rare gift for connecting with people on a deep and meaningful level.

John was also a gifted storyteller. His tales—often filled with humor, wisdom, and heartfelt emotion—will forever echo in the hearts of those who had the privilege of hearing them. He was known for his gentle nature, his kindness, and his ability to listen with a compassionate heart.

John is survived by his wife, Margo; his daughters, Kelly and Brandon Walker, and Julie Wade;

Grandchildren, Cole and Laurie Walker, Kathryne Cantu, and Camille Cantu; his brother, Wayne and Carol McCarley; his sister, Martha Jane and Paul Hartman; nieces, Kristie, Shelly and Allison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Gladys McCarley, his grandson, Sam Walker, and a nephew, Jimmy McCarley.
