Josie Dawn Elizabeth Black

Josie Dawn Elizabeth Black, age 45, of Bogata, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Visitation will be on Friday, June, 21, 2024, at Lake Chapel House of Prayer in Talco, Texas, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The Funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Joe Littleton and Rev. Eddie Richardson officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Tully, Ty Pierce, Joshua Newsom, Joe Tully, Dave Dollins, Bo Newsom, Shane Crafts, Shawn Fields, and Marty Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be Braxten Newsom, Sammy Newsom, and Jimmy Tully. Interment will be at Midway Cemetery in Talco, Texas.

Josie was born on October 8, 1978, to Sammy James and Martha Pearline (Crafts) Tully in Mount Pleasant, Texas. She married Joe Black on November 30, 2017, in Deport, Texas. Josie loved being a caregiver and for many years took special care of Ms. Wanda. She enjoyed when she was able to take time and go fishing. Josie attended Victory Holiness Tabernacle in New Boston and recently was baptized in her faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sammy Tully; stepfather, Tommy Owen; grandparents, Louie & Marie Crafts and John & Frankie Tully.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Black; children, Marty Fields, Christina “Crissy”  Poarch and her husband Tyler, and Shawn Fields; step daughter, Brittany Kozlow; grandchildren, Jaylynn Dennis, Skyla Rose, Preston Poarch and Ryker Poarch; step grandchildren, Kylee Vaughn and Karter Vaughn; mother, Martha Owen of Cunningham; siblings, James Tully, of Bogata, TX, Shawn Tully of Johntown, TX, Joe (Taffy) Tully of Bogata, TX and Stacie (John) Newsom of Willis, TX; Aunts, Louise “Snookie” Henderson, Margaret Newsom, other aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces and extended family.
