Larry Smith Obituary

Larry Murl Smith, age 51, of Scroggins, Texas, left us too soon on February 22, 2025.

Larry was born on May 26, 1973, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to James Waylon and Brenda Lois (Griggs) Smith. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. Larry went on to pursue his education at Stephen F. Austin University where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity – Eta Iota Chapter. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Texas Christian University (TCU), a school he held close to his heart. A devoted Horned Frog fan, Larry’s passion for TCU never wavered.

Larry was deeply passionate about music. He had an appreciation for all kinds of genres, making music a constant and cherished part of his life and always had his music playing on his phone. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman as well as a motorcycle enthusiast and could often be seen running the roads around the lakes on his Bourget chopper or Harley with his big infectious smile.

Larry’s warmth, humor, and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will live on through his family, friends, and loved ones. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his loyalty, and that famous “Larro” smile.

Survivors: daughter, River Helena Smith; sons, Christian Jordan Smith and Phoenix Kross Smith; granddaughter, Ella Kate Dove and grandson, Elliott Brooks Smith; mother, Brenda Lois Smith; brother, Alan and Debby Smith; nephews, Jackson Smith and Sutton Smith, and niece, Gracie Smith.
