Margarett Gail Kerr

Margarett Gail (Johnson) Kerr age 74, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.

Gail was born on September 5,1951, in Mount Vernon, Texas, to Charles and Betty (McCoy) Johnson.

She married Ray T. Kerr on June 7, 1969.

She worked for Cypress Springs Water Supply as Office Manager for 30 years. Gail was a devoted member of Purley Baptist Church, and a founding member of the Purley Volunteer Fire Department. She loved magnolias, dogwoods, and hummingbirds. Above all, Gail cherished spending time with her family, which brought her the greatest joy.

Gail is survived by her son, Jason and wife, Brandy Kerr; daughter, Amber and husband, Chris Hughes; grandchildren, Kristen and husband, Ethan Borders, Kody Hughes, and Kathryn Kerr; great-grandson, Beckham James Borders; aunts and uncle, Linda Johnson, Wanda and Jerry Johnson; brothers and sisters in law, Jerry (Debby) Troy, Curtis (Brenda) Troy, Terry (Renate) Troy; special friend and caregiver, Retta Evans; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ray T. Kerr; her parents, Charles and Betty Johnson; sister-in-law, Ramona McBride.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2:00 pm in Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home chapel and visitation at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery.
