Marlys Bawdon, age 86 of Saltillo, Texas, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025.
She was born in Volga, South Dakota, to Oscar E. and Leah A. (Brown) Lee on November 23, 1938.
Marlys married Roger Bawdon on September 4, 1960. Following her husband in his travels, they traveled to many places around the world, Germany, Scotland, British Columbia, Britian, Alaska, Yukon, and many states in America.
She loved reading, bird watching, cooking, watching old westerns, the Hallmark channel, and old Tom Clance movies, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her bird dogs and cats only less than her family. She especially loved her coffee, pork chops, ice cream and tomato soup and maybe not in that order. Marlys was known for not complaining and her favorite places in the world were the family farm in West Olive, Michigan and in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
She worked for AT&T and Southwestern Bell and was one of the first female switchmen in a male dominated field. She had her own office in Los Colinas, in which she was responsible for the phone service for 100K of customers.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roger; her parents; her siblings, Oscar Jr, Grace, Leon, Eugene, Eunice, Hazel, Gordon, Melvin, and Stanley.
She is survived by her son, Devin and wife Rosy; grandchildren, Austin and Tanya Bawdon, Logan and Megan Bawdon; great grandchildren, Regan Bawdon and Raylan Bawdon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 20,2025, at 3:00 pm at the Old Saltillo Church with Rev. Dan Hoke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Old Saltillo Methodist Church.
