Mary Bell Pennington, of the Hagansport Community, passed away at her home with her loved ones by her side, at the age of 81.
Mary was born on January 6, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, to Joseph Edgar and Lula Edna (Stevens) Barnett. She married Lee W. Pennington on October 28, 1967. She worked as a caregiver. Mary attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a life-long Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, son, Billy and Lisa Pennington and daughter, Donna and Blake Gurley. Grandchildren, Christie Gurley-Reed and spouse Levi Reed, Matthew Gurley, McKenna Gurley, and Vernon Lee Pennington. Sisters, Rita and Al Newton and Vickie Glenn. Numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
Mary was preceded in death by her spouse, Lee Pennington; parents, Joseph and Lula Barnett; sister, Sue Minyard; brother, A.J. Barnett; and niece, Edna Minyard.
The Funeral Service will be on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Talco, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Rev. Randy Sinclair and Rev. Mark DeYong will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Matthew Gurley, Vernon Pennington, Levi Reed, Blade Brasfield, Chad Edwards, and Dustin Glenn. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her beloved nephews. Interment will be at Hagansport Cemetery.
