Mary Tinsley, age 82, of Mount Vernon, Texas went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Pepper Puryear officiating.
Mary was born on March 18, 1941, in Franklin County, Texas to Morris and Rosa (Clevenger) Holmes. She married Morris Tinsley, Jr. on May 30, 1959. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon and worked as a Tax Assessor Collector Deputy for Franklin County. Mary enjoyed playing at casinos and traveling. She could make any place she was at feel like home. She loved to shop with her friends and was usually the designated driver. Her husband was always with her on her adventures.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sister-in-law, Don and Mary Jo Holmes; Gerald and Jane Holmes; stepbrother, Billy Frank Groom and stepmother, Vesta Holmes.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Morris Tinsley, Jr. of Mount Vernon; daughter and her husband, Terri and Don Carruthers; grandchildren, Kurt (Dee) Carruthers, Justin (Rebecca) Carruthers, Jeffrey (Tammy) Carruthers, and Stacy Pierson. A host of great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law, Jean Biggerstaff and husband Sonny and Sue Forgy and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins
