Mary Jane Barnard, age 81, of Bogata, Texas (Johntown Community), went into the presence of her “faithful” God that she had trusted in for so many years. She passed away in Mount Vernon, Texas.
Jane was born March 1, 1943, to Robert Carl and Mittie Irene (Locke) Hanley in Lamar County, Texas. She was adopted by her paternal aunt and uncle, Aud Clem and Lera (Hanley) Warren in the early 1950’s along with her sister, Linda.
Jane met Donald Barnard in the early 1960’s at the skating rink in Bogata, Texas. They were married on April 22, 1963. She was a faithful member of Lake Chapel House of Prayer in Hagansport, Texas and was a homemaker. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and they always put a smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Don; her parents; her siblings, Irene, Perry, Dee, Linda, James, and Carl. One grandchild, Wendi Turrell.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronnie and Pam Barnard, Thresa and Leo Salas, Lawanza and Brandon Haley; grandchildren, David Bishop, Lesa and Silvia Yanez. Savannah and Sam Peralta, Abigail Barnard, Alyvia Barnard, and Amelya Barnard; great grandchildren, Bella Peralta, Aubree Peralta, Emersyn Peralta and Jaxton Lumen; sister, Faye Hanley; sister-in-law, Wanda Wilson; aunt, Anita Locke; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Funeral services are scheduled for December 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Chapel House of Prayer, with Pastor Gerald Hood and Dr. Duane Falk officiating. Serving as pallbearers are David Bishop, Sam Peralta, Justin Lumen, Shawn Tully, Jason Bounds, and Roger Burks.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Texas.
