Melba Sue Cates Seay, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Chip Horton will be officiation. Pallbearers will be Cameron Brown, Wade Powell, Ryan Powell, Blake Powell, Jim Emery, and Chris McElyea.
Sue was born on November 8, 1939 to John L. and Bernice (Smith) Cates in Mt. Vernon. She married Donald Seay in April 25, 1959. She loved to quilt, embroidery, crochet and loved to read.. Sue was Vice-President of the Providence Cemetery Board. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, a Campfire Girl Leader in Dallas and the President of Ladies Auxiliary 1967-1969 in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 51 years, Donald Seay; daughter, Donna Powell and brother, Billy Cates.
Survivors include her son, John Seay and wife, Carmen of Texarkana, Texas; daughter, Amy Murphy and husband, Ken of Artesia, New Mexico; son-in-law, Wade Powell of Mt. Vernon, Texas; grandchildren, Cameron Brown of Texarkana, Texas, Carlie Seay of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ryan Powell and wife, Tiffani of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Blake Powell of Longview, Texas and Amanda Murphy of Artesia, New Mexico. Great grandchildren, Jaxson, Brynli, Maci Powell. Numerous extended family.
