Nelson Eugene Dean

Nelson Eugene Dean, age 67, of Saltillo, Texas passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Lake Chapel House of Prayer. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Mike Maxon, Jr. and Bro. Gerald Hood officiating.  Pallbearers will be: Carl Wayne Allen, Brad Benton, Justin Burkett, Jeremy Cox, Ron Johnson, and Gary Rogers.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Calli Dees, Zach Dean, Jesse Dean, Dakoda Womack, Lani Dean, Will Dean, and Levi Womack. Interment will be at Colliers Chapel Cemetery.

Nelson was born on June 20, 1953 to Murriel and Dorothy (House) Dean in Sulphur Springs, Texas.  He married Linda Fay Barsness on February 4, 1974 in Oklahoma.  He was a member of County Line Holiness Church for many years. Nelson enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with the grandchildren, and going to church. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Fire Department and was the fire chief of Mt. Vernon in the 1990’s.

He was preceded in death by his father, Murriel Dean and mother, Dorothy Frost; and his son, Jason Massey.

Nelson is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Dean; sons, Nelson Dean Jr. and his wife, Samantha of Hagansport, TX, Willie Dean and his wife, Lindsay of Saltillo, TX; daughters, Meleina Womack and her husband, Dustin of Saltillo, TX, Stephanie Livingston and her husband, Wesley of Tyler, TX; sisters, Gwen (Doug) Zink of Colorado, Meleina (Donnie) Sims of Canton, TX; brothers, Gary (Patty) Dean of Mt. Vernon, TX, Mauricio Dean of Marietta, TX; step-mom, Ericka Dean of Marietta, TX; step-dad, Ira Frost of Rowlett,Tx; 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
