Paul Richard Lovier, Sr., age 84, of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 in Mount Vernon.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas from 11:00 – 1:00 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tommy Campbell and Daniel Ledford officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Morgan, Jim Alston, Dustin Wesson, Mike Dollins, Chris Cooper, and Philip Alston. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Hawks Gun Club. Interment will be at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Paul was born to Harry Paul and Virginia Vivian “Young” Lovier on September 17, 1936 in Dallas, Texas. He married Kathy Spencer on June 14, 2002 in Texarkana, Arkansas.
He was in the Reserve Officer’s Training Corps in high school. After graduation he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was active duty from 1953 to 1957 and then Coast Guard Reserves for four additional years. He served at lake patrol for Cypress Lake. Paul was the Justice of the Peace for Franklin County for 25 years and then served as the Franklin County Judge for four years. He sold women’s fashion clothing all over the United States. Paul served on the Chamber of Commerce Board, Northeast Texas Rural Rail District, Rotary Club, Franklin County Historical Association, EDC Board, Industrial Foundation, and Grace Baptist Church. An avid sportsman and loved his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul is survived by his wife of 18 years, Kathy Lovier and daughter, Abby Grace of Mount Vernon, Texas; son, Ricky Lovier and wife, Amanda of West Virginia; daughter, Vivian Lovier of Long Island, New York; grandchildren, Ricky Lovier, Michelle Lovier, Zack Lovier, John Grant, Alexis Grant.
