Mr. R.Q. Tower, age 90, of Hagansport, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Paris, Texas.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. officiating by Randy Sinclair and Mark DeYong. Interment will be at Hagansport Cemetery.
R.Q. was born to Charlie Lee Tower and Pearlie Myrtle Hicks Tower on February 9, 1931 in Grady County, Oklahoma. He graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1948. He married Janama Laverne Joice on April 27, 1951. R.Q. served in the U.S. Army’s Signal Corp in the Korean War. He worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 31 years. After retiring from the phone company, he owned and operated a dairy for 14 years. R.Q. was an active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where he served as deacon. He was a vital part of Franklin County. Mr Tower was an intergral member of the Hagansport Cemetery Association, Hagansport Community Center, and the Mount Vernon and Saltillo Young Farmers. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, gardening, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Laverne Tower; siblings, James Rufus Tower, William Ettredge Tower, Odessa Lavern Phelps, Onita Ozell Tower, Don Elwyn Tower, Charles Kenneth Tower, and John Franklin Tower.
Survivors include his son, Randy Paul Tower and wife, Cindy of Athens, Texas, Ronald Wayne Tower and wife, Janice of Wylie, Texas; daughters, Robin Renee Downe and husband, Larry of Gainesville, Texas, Rhonda Kay Tower Siddens and husband, Matt of Hagansport, Texas. Grandchildren and spouses are: Misty Dawn Fullwood (Jason), Toni Lynn Gribble (Will), Diane Marie Henry (Brian), Ashley Renee Ott (Justin), Zachary Ray Downe, Kristopher Matthew Siddens, and James Marcus Siddens; a growing number of great-grandchildren; sister, Venita Clarice Crews and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers are Mike Deming, John O’Hara, Bo Wafford, Terry Bishop, Sandy Cannon, and Ronald Gills. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Bishop, Kristopher Siddens, Zachary Downe, and Marcus Siddens.
