Richard Arlan Flanagan, age 73, of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 in Dallas, Texas.
Celebration of Life for Richard will be at the First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Texas on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. officiated by Pastor Pepper Puryear. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 at the First Baptist Church and visitation after the Celebration of Life service as well.
Richard was born in Stumpville, Texas on October 8, 1946 to Willie J Flanagan and Edna Adell Smith. He married Terry Lyn Taylor Flanagan on November 19, 1995 in Jefferson, Texas. He had a master’s degree from University of North Texas, Denton. He was a graduate assistant at UNT for two years and began his career as an educator, basketball coach, Superintendent of three schools and Consultant for Region 8 Service Center, Mount. Pleasant, TX.
He was a member of the Mount Vernon Rotary Club.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bill Jr., brother Sonny, brother Albert, and sister Barbara (Bob).
Survivors include his wife, Terry Flanagan of Mount Vernon; daughters, Kelly Marino and husband Dale of Shreveport, Louisiana, Marilynda Townsend and husband Andy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mandy Flanagan of Greenville, Texas; sons, Robby Robertson and wife Gina of Norman, Oklahoma, Josh Flanagan and wife Keisha of Marshall, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brother, Larry Flanagan of Crystal Beach, Texas.
