Sally Sheegog Mitchell, on July 9, 2024, our mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully with her family in Tyler, Texas.
Sally was born to Richard and Effie (Carpenter) Sheegog on September 16, 1920, in Gainesville, Texas. She was the last of 8 siblings, with one passing away at birth.
She lived a life full of zest, vigor and love for others, especially her family. Sally was a 44-year survivor of Stage 3B cancer in which she demonstrated determination, courage and faith.
Our mother was a social being with people and her bridge clubs and would be the first person to laugh at any joke or any humorous event. She loved spending her Tuesdays playing duplicate when in Altus-- never the boasting type but very competitive. She would often say “cooking for others is a gift of love”. No one could be more hospitable than Sally. She was a member of Purley Baptist Church.
Sally is survived by 3 daughters, Nanette Mitchell of Tyler, Texas, Amy Buckles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Julie Mitchell of Tyler, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Joseph Buckles, III of Chicago, IL, Jacob Buckles of Dallas, TX, Chad Little and Krista Little of Arizona; and 4 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Mitch; her 8 siblings and her parents.
This is not a good-bye Mother, it is an ‘I will see you later’.
Visitation will be at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and the Funeral Service will immediately follow 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Purley Cemetery.
Services entrusted to Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.
