Shelby Anne (Higdon) Carter, of Scroggins, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service with Rev. Pepper Puryear officiating. Pallbearers will be Tyler Allen, Charley Taylor, Charles Taylor, II, Glynn Tafuro, Shelby Tafuro, and Isaac Tafuro. Interment will be at the Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Shelby was born on March 28, 1951, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Shelby Hugo and Nellie (Jolley) Higdon.
Shelby married Ronald Edward Carter on March 31, 1979, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She worked as a statistical secretary for Caddo Sales and Used Tax and she had a love for flowers. She loved being a homemaker. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews were her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shelby and Nellie Higdon; and her son-in-law, Randal Allen.
Shelby is survived by her spouse of 44 years, Ronnie Carter; two daughters, Deborah Michelle and husband Rocky Vig, and Angela Leigh Allen; grandchildren, Brooke and husband Ian Turner, Emily Vig and fiancé, Michael Duncan, Tyler Allen, Hannah Allen, Victoria Allen, Joshua Allen; two great grandchildren, Madeline Turner, and Gracelyn Turner; one sister, Deborah and husband Charley Taylor; nephew, Charles Taylor, II and spouse Kristen and niece, Crystal and husband Glynn Tafuro; great nephews, Casper Taylor, Shelby Tafuro, and Isaac Tafuro.
