Steven Wyatt Byrd

Steven Wyatt Byrd, age 67, of Mt. Vernon, Texas passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Vernon, Texas.  The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.  Pepper Puryear and Craig Clark will be officiating.  Pallbearers will be John Stone, Ricky Jones, Chris Mars, Ronnie Ross, Chase Lykins, and Chris Orr.  Interment will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Hopkins County at 2:00 p.m.

Steven was born on September 11, 1954 to C.T. Byrd and Yvonne (Bedgood) Byrd in Naples, Texas.  He married Kathy Merlene Lunceford on January 2, 1982 in Mt. Vernon. Steven worked at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts as the manager and salesman.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathy Byrd of Mt. Vernon, Texas; sons, Matt Kyle Byrd and Tricia of Sulphur Bluff, Texas, Corrie Michael Byrd and  Stephanie of Miami, Florida, and Jeremy Wyatt Byrd and Allison of Pittsburg, Texas.  Grandchildren, Hannah Byrd, Braydon Byrd, Dylan Byrd all of Sulphur Bluff, Texas and Aedyn Byrd and Ryker Byrd of Miami, Florida; brother-in-law Tony Douglas Lunceford and Carla of Commerce, Texas and sister-in-law, Shirley Patchen and Tom of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
