Obituary

Syble Lynn Buck, age 81, of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Tyler, Texas.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home from 1:00–2:00 p.m.  The Funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Larry Black officiating.  Pallbearers will be Matt Todd, Cody Buck, Zach Buck, Colter Buck, Terry Jaggers and Rocky Christenberry. Honorary pallbearer will be Case Buck. Interment will be at the Rockhill Cemetery.

Syble was born on December 6, 1941 in Mount Vernon to Elgie and Lela (Jaggers) Parrish. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School on May 23, 1960.   She married the love of her life Gary Max Buck on May 24, 1960 in Franklin County, Texas.

Syble dedicated her entire life to making a home and raising their 2 sons Lanny and James.  While raising her family, she also worked at the Glove Factory and Tom Scott Lumber yard in Mount Vernon. She owned and operated the Hardware/Variety store in Omaha, Texas for 10 years. Along with her husband, she owned and operated GMB Trucking Company for 10 years. She and Gary also raised beef cattle and hay after moving back to the family farm in 1979. Throughout her life she was known for being frugal, practical, and giving her all to every task she was given.                 

Syble was a director for the Sulphur-Cypress Soil and Water Conservation District serving as secretary/treasurer for the board for over 30 years.  She served as treasurer for the Rockhill Cemetery Association and was a faithful member of the Blodgett Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Gary Buck.

Syble is survived by her sons, Lanny Buck and wife Brenda of Winnsboro, Texas and James Buck and wife Susan of Mount Vernon, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Colter Buck and wife Holly, Zach Buck and wife Jesi, Casie Buck and husband Steven, and Cody Buck. 2 great grandchildren, Case Buck and Ellie Buck. Brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Linda Parrish. Syble was dearly loved by all and will be missed greatly.
