Theodora “Theo” Muriel Sturm Kaffenberger, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away in Tyler, Texas, on February 6, 2026.
Theo was born on October 24,1939, in Evanston, Illinois, to Vernon Anthony Sturm and Muriel Theodora Uhlemann Sturm. She married the love of her life, Thomas Kaffenberger, on November 17, 1978, in Orlando, Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughters, Kathy (Howard) Emery and Susan (Jeff) Miller; grandchildren, Allen (Jamie) Torda, Laura (Robert) Money, Alex (Alicia) Torda, Amanda Miller and Matthew Miller; great grandchildren, Casen, Cooper, Cade Torda, Ayden Money, Hunter, Harlee, Owen, and Scarlett Torda; niece, Laurie Sturm.
Theo was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Muriel Sturm; her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Nancy Sturm; and her nephew, Ray Sturm.
Theo lived a life rich in service, creativity, and connection. She was a 50-year plus member of P.E.O., a devoted member of the church choir since the age of 14, and an active participant in the American Business Women’s Association. Tom and Theo were avid Square Dancers. Her passion for family history led her to the Genealogical Societies of both Illinois and Florida. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church served as a Stephen Minister, offering compassion and support to those in need.
She was also an enthusiastic Chicago Blackhawks fan, a lover of card games of all kinds, and a dedicated scrapbooker, preserving memories for generations to come.
