Vanessa Dale Lara

Vanessa Dale Capps Lara, age 66, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, in Sulphur Springs.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home from 5-8:00 p.m. The Graveside service will be on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Macon Cemetery with Danny Suiter officiating. Pallbearers will be Manny Mandujano, Bubba Mandujano, Mo Mandujano, Dillon Cunningham, Nathan Garcia, and Dantae Hall. Honorary Pallbearers are Stetsyn Sanchez, Sabi Ramirez, Canica Mandujano, and Sael Gutierrez.

Vanessa was born on May 20, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, to Billy Van and Venita Lou (Waymire) Capps. She married Lorenzo R. Lara on September 27, 1985, in Hopkins County, and together they built a beautiful life together. Vanessa loved to fish. She loved going to the casinos and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Carlos Mandujano; her parents, Billy and Venita Capps; and 2 brothers, William Alfred Capps and Gary Lynn Capps; paternal grandparents, W.D. and Alva VanHorn Capps and maternal grandparents, Joseph “Tex” and Sybil Horton Waymire.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Lorenzo Lara; their children and their spouses, daughters, Ginger and Casper Cunningham, Maria and Marco Lopez, Raquel and Manuel Mandujano; son, Willie Sanchez; bonus daughters, Amada Winship and Lona and Skeet Hall; bonus son, Jo-Joe Winship; 24 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Mike and Jana Capps; sister, Jo and Juan Dominguez; longtime best friend, Pat Winship, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
