Visitation for Violet Marie Richardson will be on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow.
Violet Marie Richardson was born June 27, 1928 to Forest and Addie Richardson in the East Texas community of New Salem. She passed away June 16, 2020 in Mt. Vernon, Texas. She was the third of nine children and she loved to cook. She enjoyed working as a waitress and a cook for most of her life but especially enjoyed cooking and serving her family.
She was married to John Crager and lived in Lufkin, Texas for many years. She later married Kenneth Richardson and where they lived in Mt. Vernon, Texas until the time of her death. Her two children, Linda and Johnny Eugene will always remember her as a loving mother who loved the Lord and who worked hard, always trying to do the best she could for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth as well as her parents Forest and Addie, four sisters Estelle Hamilton, Mertie Greenville, Effie Marshall and Betty Richardson Schropshire, as well as one brother, Albert Richardson. She was also preceded in death by grandson Matthew Lindsey and great-grandson Brendan Patton.
She is survived by her daughter Linda Lindsey and husband Don of Mt. Vernon, Texas and her son Johnny Eugene Crager and wife Kyle of Winfield, Texas. She leaves behind a large family including grandchildren Donna Johnson, Lana Toll, Laura Crager and Stacy Wardrup, as well as ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
She also is survived by one sister Christine Malmquist of Mt. Vernon, two brothers, Clint Richardson of Pollok, Texas and Darrel Richardson of Hudson, Texas and many wonderful friends.
