Wilma Lea Smith

Wilma Lea (Hodges) Smith, age 90 of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away in Sulphur Springs, Texas on December 1, 2024.

Wilma was born November 18, 1934, in Perrin, Texas to Homer L. and Erma (Pate) Hodges.

She was a woman of faith and a dedicated member of the Purely Baptist Church and you couldn't have a conversation with her that she didn't ask if you were a follower of Christ. Wilma was a resident of Mount Vernon House Assisted Living. She worked as an insurance adjuster for an insurance company and had been a billing clerk for various companies.

She is survived by her daughter in law, Tommye Mills; sons, Vincent (Suzanne) Smith, Fred Smith, and Francis (Connie) Smith; grandchildren, Kristen (Brant) Green, Michael (Amanda) Smith, Marc (Reci) Smith, Zach (Hannah) Smith; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lorena Bowen; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Smith; son, Larry Paul Mills, parents, Homer and Erma Hodges; brother, H.L. Hodges, Jr.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior at 10 am. with Rev. Pablo Guzman and Rev. Bruce Blackstone officiating.

Serving as pall-bearers are Vincent Smith, Fred Smith, Francis Smith, Brant Green, Hayden Green, and Blake Green.  Interment will follow at Purely Cemetery.
