Mr. Winston Alton Arnold, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Texas passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at his home.
A come and go visitation will be on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am. with Cody Rushing officiating. Pallbearers will be Alan Glen Coker, Jason Alton Arnold, Joshua Lee Arnold, Matthew David Arnold, James William Arnold and Daniel Phillip Arnold. Interment will be at Mount Vernon City Cemetery.
Winston was born on January 3, 1934 to Alton and Myrtle Opal “Hamilton” Arnold in Groveton, Texas. He married Madeline Sue Mathieu on January 3, 1954 in Eldorado, Illinois. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1975. Winston was a Senior Master Sergeant and earned many awards including National Defense Service Award, Good Conduct Medal with 3 Br Lps, 2 and 4 Olive Leaf Clusters, Air Force Longevity Service award with 1 and 4 Leaf Clusters, Air Force commendation medal with 1 Olive Leaf Cluster for his Meritorious Service, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, Air Force Small Arms Expert and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award Ribbon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madeline; brother, Winifred Lowell Arnold.
Winston is survived by his sons and their spouses, James and Juanita Arnold of Mount Vernon, Texas, Vincent and Penny Arnold of Hughes Springs, Texas, Terry Lee and Terry Lynn Arnold of Federal Way, Washington, Joseph Arnold of Longview, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Ashley.
